How to use prepositions correctly? আজকে আমরা শিখব preposition এর ব্যবহার এবং তাদের বাংলা মানে। তার সাথে থাকবে উদাহরন। এগুলি ভাল করে শিখে রাখুন কারন এদের ছাড়া আপনি ইংরেজি শিখতে কিংবা বলতে পারবেন না। আজকের ক্লাসটি করলে আপনি খুব ভালোভাবে Preposition কে ব্যবহার করতে শিখে যাবেন।

1. On – উপরে
“On” সাধারণত বস্তু, সময়, Surface এবং আরও অনেক কিছুর মধ্যে বিভিন্ন সম্পর্ক নির্দেশ করতে ইংরেজিতে ব্যবহৃত হয়। এখানে তাদের বাংলা অর্থ সহ “on” এর কিছু সাধারণ ব্যবহার দিলাম:
Location or Position: অবস্থান
The book is on the table.
বইটি টেবিলে আছে।
মানে বইটি টেবিলের উপরে আছে। যখন কোন কিছুর উপর অন্য কোন বস্তু থাকবে তখন On কে ব্যবহার করা হয়। তবে বস্তুগুলি একে অপরকে পর্শ করে থাকবে।
Details: Used to indicate contact or support on a surface.
এছাড়াও On কে আরও নানাভাবে ব্যবহার করা হয়। যেমন –
Days of the Week or Dates:
সপ্তাহের দিনগুলি বা তারিখগুলি:
I have a meeting on Monday.
আমার একটি মিটিং সোমবারে আছে।
সপ্তাহের দিনগুলি বলতে Sunday, Monday গুলিকে বোঝাচ্ছে তাই আমরা এর আগে On কে ব্যবহার করব।
Expressions of Time: সময়ের অভিব্যক্তি
She was born on August 10th.
তিনি ১০ই আগস্টে জন্মগ্রহণ করেছিলেন।
তাহলে এখানে আমারা শিখলাম মাসের নামের আগে On কে বসাতে হবে।
Attachment or Position:
The keys are on the hook.
চাবিগুলি হুকের উপর রয়েছে।
অনেক সময় আমরা দেওয়ালে পেরেক লাগিয়ে কোন কিছুকে ঝুলিয়ে রাখি। এই সব ক্ষেত্রে আমরা On কে ব্যবহার করব।
Based on: ভিত্তি
The movie is based on a true story.
সিনেমাটি একটি সত্য ঘটনার উপর ভিত্তি করে।
Involvement: জড়িত থাকা / অংশগ্রহণ
I’m working on a project.
আমি একটি প্রকল্পে কাজ করছি।
স্কুল, কলেজ বা অফিসে আমরা নানা ধরনের প্রোজেক্ট এ অংশগ্রহণ করে থাকি। তখন আমরা On কে ব্যবহার করতে পারি।
Continuation of an Action: একটি কাজের ধারাবাহিকতা
He is on the phone.
সে ফোনে আছে।
Transportation:
She traveled on the bus.
তিনি বাসে ভ্রমণ করেছিলেন।

2. In – ভিতরে, মধ্যে
– Example: She is reading a book in the library.
তিনি লাইব্রেরিতে একটি বই পড়ছেন।
– Details: Used to indicate location within a confined space.
একটি সীমাবদ্ধ স্থানের মধ্যে অবস্থান নির্দেশ করতে ব্যবহৃত হয়। যেমন – ঘর, অফিস, ক্লাস ইত্যাদির মধ্যে বোঝাতে in কে ব্যবহার করা হয়।
Location:
The book is in the bag.
বইটি ব্যাগে আছে।
Enclosed or Surrounded: ঘেরার মধ্যে কোন কিছু থাকলে in কে ব্যবহার করা হয়
The cat is sleeping in the box.
বিড়ালটি বাক্সে ঘুমাচ্ছে।
Time Period: সময় কাল
We’ll have a meeting in an hour.
আমরা এক ঘন্টার মধ্যে মিটিং করব।
Included Within: একসাথে অনেক কিছু থাকলে in কে ব্যবহার করা হয়
There are many vegetables in the salad.
সালাদে অনেকগুলি শাকসবজি আছে।
Possession: অধিকার
The money is in my wallet.
টাকাটি আমার ওয়ালেটে আছে।
Part of a Group: একটি দলের অংশ
She’s a key player in the team.
তিনি দলে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ খেলোয়াড়।
State or Condition: অবস্থা
He’s in a good mood today.
আজ তার মন ভালো অবস্থায়।
Activity: কার্যকলাপ
They are engaged in research in the laboratory.
তারা গবেষণা করছে গবেষণাগারে।
Indication of Membership: সদস্য পদের ইঙ্গিত
He’s in the drama club.
তিনি নাটক ক্লাবের সদস্য।
When to use preposition At?
3. At – এ
– Example: We’ll meet at the park.
আমরা পার্কে মিলবো।
– Details: Used to indicate a specific point or location.
একটি নির্দিষ্ট পয়েন্ট বা অবস্থান নির্দেশ করতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
Location: স্থান
He is waiting at the bus stop.
তিনি বাস স্টপে অপেক্ষা করছেন।
Time: সময়
The meeting is scheduled at 3 PM.
বিকেল ৩টায় বৈঠকের কথা রয়েছে।
Activity or Event: কার্যকলাপ বা অনুষ্ঠান

Expression of Rate: হার প্রকাশ
The car is traveling at high speed.
প্রচণ্ড গতিতে গাড়িটি চলছে।
Address or Contact Information: ঠিকানা বা যোগাযোগের তথ্য

4. Over – উপরে, অধিক
– Example: The plane flew over the mountains.
বিমানটি পর্বতের উপরে উড়ে গেল।
– Details: Used to indicate physical position above or movement from one side to another.
একপাশ থেকে অন্য দিকে নড়াচড়া নির্দেশ করতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
Above or Higher Position:
The bird is flying over the trees.
পাখি গাছগুলির উপরে উড়ছে।
Across or Crosswise: আড়াআড়ি
We walked over the bridge.
আমরা সেতুর উপর দিয়ে হাঁটলাম।
Finished or Completed: সমাপ্ত বা শেষ
The event is over now.

Control or Mastery: নিয়ন্ত্রণ বা আয়ত্ত

In Excess or More than: অতিরিক্ত বা তার বেশি

5. Under – নিচে

বিড়ালটি টেবিলের নিচে ঘুমাচ্ছে।
– Details: Used to indicate being beneath or below something.
কোন কিছুর নিচে বা নিচে থাকা নির্দেশ করতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
6. Between – মধ্যে
– Example: The book is between the two candles.
বইটি দুটি মোমবাতির মধ্যে আছে।
– Details: Used to indicate the position of something in the middle of two other things.
অন্য দুটি জিনিসের মাঝখানে কিছুর অবস্থান নির্দেশ করতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
7. Behind – পিছনে
– Example: The car is parked behind the building.
গাড়িটি বিল্ডিংটির পিছনে পার্ক করা আছে।
– Details: Used to indicate the position at the back of something.
কোন কিছুর পিছনে অবস্থান নির্দেশ করতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
8. Beside – পাশে
– Example: She sat beside her friend.
তিনি তার বন্ধুর পাশে বসেছেন।
– Details: Used to indicate being by the side of something or someone.
কিছু বা কারও পাশে থাকা নির্দেশ করতে ব্যবহৃত হয়।
9. With – সঙ্গে
– Example: He went to the party with his brother.
সে পার্টিতে তার ভাইয়ের সঙ্গে গিয়েছে।

সংসর্গ বা অনুষঙ্গ নির্দেশ করতে ব্যবহৃত।
10. Before – আগে

16. By – দ্বারা

সে বাসে করে ভ্রমণ করেছে।

17. Through – মাধ্যমে

গাড়িটি টানেল দিয়ে গিয়েছে।
