আমরা জানি বাক্য তৈরি করতে গেলে একটা Subject এর দরকার হয়। কিন্তু সেটা যদি Imperative Sentence হয় তখন লাগে না। যদি বাক্যে Subject না থাকে তাহলে আমরা There বা It কে ব্যবহার করে থাকি। তবে আজকে আমরা শিখব There এর ব্যবহার।
যদি বাক্যে Subject অনির্দিষ্ট হয় এবং সেই বাক্যের verb দ্বারা “থাকা”, “আছে”, “নেই”, “ছিল” বা “ছিলেন” ইত্যাদি থাকে তাহলে সেই বাক্যে “There” কে use করতে হবে।
যেমন –
“আমাদের গ্রামে একটি ব্যাংক আছে।”
এই বাক্যটিতে নির্দিষ্ট কোন subject নেই এবং বাক্যের শেষে “আছে” কথাটি আছে, তাই এই বাক্যটির ইংরেজি করতে হবে এইভাবে –
There is a bank in our village.
এখানে আরও একটি জিনিস শেখার আছে সেটা হল – এই বাক্যটি “There” দিয়ে শুরু হয়েছে তাই এটাকে Introductory `There’ বলা হয়।

ফ্রিজের মধ্যে কিছু মিষ্টি আছে।
There are some sweets in the fridge.
সেখানে পৌঁছাতে দু ঘণ্টা লাগবে।
It will take two hours to get there.
বৃষ্টি থামবার পর আমরা সেখানে পৌঁছালাম।
After the rain stopped, we got there.
আমরা সেখানে যাচ্ছি।
We are going there.
টেবিলের উপর কিছু বই আছে।

যেখানে ভালোবাসা আছে সেখানেই শান্তি আছে।

তার মনে কোন অহংকার নেই।
There is no pride in his mind.
আমাদের গ্রামে কোন স্কুল নেই।
There is no school in our village.
তার মধ্যে কোন সততা ছিল না।
There was no honesty in him.
রাস্তায় কোন লোক ছিল না।
There were no people in the road.
আমি সেখানে যাব না।
I shall not go there.
